Happy Palm Sunday everyone! This is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s almost always sunny and very Spring like. Even today, we just had a massive thunderstorm go through in the night, but now it’s a happy sun in the sky. With all the puddles from the storms, it fits perfectly with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, because if that had happened today he would have definitely needed the road covered in cloaks and branches!
I also connect this story with children. Although it doesn’t mention children, we have usually gone to a Palm Sunday service where children walked in waving palm branches. I was watching an old video earlier this morning from 2018 where my youngest daughter waved her branch and then ran back and sat with us. And then in a really cute “Ow!” moment that the camera caught, my wife leaned over to whisper something to her just as she was jumping back to her feet to tell her mom something. The collision between an 8 year old noggin and her mom’s mouth was too cute! I don’t really know where I’m going with this, but Spring, in general, just gives me a feeling of optimism, and Palm Sunday is one of the beginnings of that fresh, new spirit. I hope it does the same for you. Thank you for reading my 87th blog.
