I like that old joke about the guy who’s stuck in a flood, and all of these different people come by and try to save him, but he says “No thanks. I’ve prayed to God to save me,” and so then eventually the flood waters rise even higher and kill him, and then when he gets to Heaven, he asks God, “Why didn’t you save me?” And God says, “Well, I sent all of those people. You said ‘No thanks!'” I like to link Christians and Christianity to this story. I sometimes wonder why God allows bad things to happen in this world without trying to stop it, but then on my more thoughtful days I realize that He has sent an enormous army of Christians to stop it! We are supposed to be the cure for the evils in this world. If every Christian on this planet acted Christlike…
