We live in a world that demands our focus. We have to focus on our little screens and our tiny keyboards; we have to focus on the traffic; we have to stick to plans and rules and guidelines; we have to focus on our health and our weight and our posture and, and, and. One of the favorite parts of my day is when I go out of focus. I do this first thing every morning, usually when it is still dark. I walk around the neighborhood and I try to lose focus of everything except what I hear and see on my walk. And it’s been really foggy lately, so that helps. Once I get to the point where all I’m noticing is the chirping of crickets and the occasional animal that crosses my path, then I can refocus. I refocus and I thank God for that time away from agendas and rapid-fire thoughts streaming through my brain. You should try it some time. Going out of focus curiously brings the most important things into focus. Thanks for reading my blog.
