The God Bubble

Today I am writing one of the most important blogs I will ever write. I’ve talked before in a blog about how God once answered my prayer immediately, but today I’m going to write about a time when God saved me and my family before we even knew that we needed saving. I’m going to write about our “God Bubble.”

As with most terms I come up with, “God Bubble” is a very oversimplified explanation of what happened in a most miraculous way, but it’s basically what happened in a nutshell. In late October of 2016, my wife and I were sitting on the floor in front of our couch watching a movie. My seven year old daughter had just come down the stairs to tell us something, and so she leaned over to whisper something in my wife’s ear. And then our lives changed. At that moment I heard the loudest explosion of my life, and it happened in our living room! A car had just driven through our living room wall!

The car was driven by a young man that was high on inhalants. He was so out of his mind on drugs that he was still trying to accelerate through the rest of our house. The only thing that stopped him was the stairwell crumpling in on itself. Once his passenger and I got him to turn off the car, it started slowly dawning on him what he had done. I don’t remember everything, but I know there was a lot of shouting and confusion and shaking, and my wife found our daughter coiled up in the fetal position. My other daughters were trapped upstairs crying and screaming. It was horrible. There were shards of wood and broken glass everywhere. It was one of the worst moments in my life. But when we had time to look back on this horrible event days later, it dawned on us that it was also one of the best. God had put a protective bubble around us.

Now I know what you’re thinking. That wasn’t necessarily God’s direct intervention. It could have been luck that you didn’t get hit with debris. You might be able to think that, but you probably would not be able to hold on to that opinion after you took a good luck at our couch. We were sitting in front of the couch… heads and shoulders well above the couch cushions. When we looked at our couch we found lots of shattered wood and glass and pieces of other items right behind us on the couch cushions. How did none of that hit us? Debris from that kind of explosion goes straight out. It doesn’t float up and over. None of us had a scratch. How is that possible? A portable radio that was on the shelf in front of the living room window ended up all the way in the back of the house! And none of the pieces of shattered shelf or the lamp on the shelf or any of the knick knacks on and in the shelves – none of that hit us! How is that possible? Answer: The God Bubble. That’s the only explanation we could come up with. God put a protective something around us. We like to call it a bubble. Thank you God. And thank you for reading my blog.
